Nyren Named Emmis Radio Regional Vice President

Indianapolis…Emmis Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: EMMS) today announced that Marv Nyren, Vice President/Market Manager of Emmis-Phoenix, has been named Emmis Radio Regional Vice President. In his new role, Nyren will continue to lead Emmis-Phoenix and will help oversee the Emmis-Indianapolis cluster, working closely with Tom Severino, the newly-named Vice President/Market Manager of Emmis-Indianapolis.

“Marv has done an outstanding job running our Phoenix cluster,” Rick Cummings, President of Emmis Radio, said. “With this promotion, he’ll oversee a similar cluster of stations in Indianapolis and bring a fresh perspective to the company’s home broadcast operations.”

Nyren has led the Emmis-Phoenix group since August 2000, when Emmis purchased the cluster from Hearst-Argyle and Clear Channel/AMFM in two separate transactions. Nyren was Vice President/General Manager of Phoenix’s KOY-AM, KYOT-FM, KZON-FM and KKFR-FM under AMFM from February 1999 to August 2000. From 1996 to 1999, he was Vice President/General Manager of WFOX-FM in Atlanta, where he was promoted from General Sales Manager (1994-96). Nyren was a Senior Vice President for Katz Radio Group from 1986-93, and started his radio career as an account executive at KRQQ/KNST in Tucson, Arizona.

Nyren’s new responsibilities begin immediately. Emmis-Indianapolis includes WENS-FM, WNOU-FM, WYXB-FM and WIBC-AM.
