EMMIS TELEVISION HIRES STEMLAR AS SENIOR VP OF SALES

Indianapolis – EMMIS Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: EMMS) today named Tom Stemlar as Senior Vice President of Sales for EMMIS Television.

“Tom’s extensive experience in local and national television sales will be a huge asset to our 15-station group,” Randy Bongarten, president of EMMIS Television, said. “We are delighted Tom will be joining our expanding group of stations.”

Stemlar, 41, has been with KATZ Continental Television since 1990, first as account executive in Chicago (1990-94), then as manager in Dallas (1994-97) and most recently, as Vice President-Director of Sales (1997-present). Prior to joining KATZ, Stemlar worked as an account executive at several television stations and in newspaper advertising sales.

A 1983 graduate of the University of Iowa, Stemlar begins his new responsibilities with EMMIS in its Indianapolis offices on July 23, 2001.
