EMMIS PUBLISHING WINS NATIONAL MAGAZINE AWARD, SWEEPS CRMAs

Indianapolis…The city and regional magazines of Emmis Publishing (Atlanta Magazine, Cincinnati Magazine, Indianapolis Monthly, Los Angeles Magazine and Texas Monthly) had a banner week, picking up a coveted National Magazine Award and winning 32 of 63 possible honors at the City and Regional Magazine Association Awards contest.

“Our readers have come to expect the highest quality journalism,” said Deborah Paul, Executive Vice President/Editorial Director of Emmis Publishing. “It’s a privilege to serve them and gratifying to be recognized for our magazines’ accomplishments.”

Texas Monthly received the American Society of Magazine Editors’ prestigious National Magazine Award for General Excellence (circulation category 250,000-500,000). Competitors included National Geographic Adventure, Saveur, Skiing and W.

At the CRMA Awards earlier in the week, Los Angeles magazine picked up a record-setting 12 awards, in such categories as general excellence, excellence in writing and excellence in design. Texas Monthly won 11 awards in categories including general excellence, excellence in writing, civic journalism and regular column. Atlanta magazine picked up six awards, while Cincinnati was honored twice and Indianapolis Monthly once. A total of 13 first-place awards were earned.
