Emmis Names Mickey Levitan Senior VP of Human Resources

Indianapolis…Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS) today announced that it has named Mickey Levitan as Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

“Mickey’s responsibility will be to oversee and support our most valuable resource – our people,” Emmis Chairman and CEO Jeff Smulyan said. “While Mickey understands and appreciates our unique culture, he brings a wealth of outside experience that will help us continue Emmis’ growth as a truly world-class organization.”

Levitan, 44, has been serving as a human resources consultant for Emmis since 2000. He is the founder and CEO of an Indianapolis-based educational technology company. Levitan’s previous experience includes serving as Director of Human Resources for Apple Computer (1998-2000), Executive Director of Organizational Effectiveness & Assistant to the President of Cummins Engine (1996-98), and as a White House Fellow (1994-95). While at Cummins, Levitan led human resources for its largest business unit. Levitan, who served in the Peace Corps for three years (1980-83) and as Country Director for Save the Children (Thailand, 1988-94), is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Stanford Food Research Institute.

Levitan replaces John Nelson, who left the company in May. He begins his new position at Emmis’ Indianapolis headquarters immediately.
