Indianapolis – EMMIS Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS) today announced that it has named John S. Nelson to the newly-created position of Vice President of Human Resources for EMMIS Communications.
“In the last 12 months, EMMIS has grown from 1,100 employees to more than 3,000 around the country and internationally,” EMMIS Chairman and CEO Jeff Smulyan said. “This new position reflects the importance we are placing on our most valuable resource – our people. John will be responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of our Human Resources Team, while incorporating EMMIS’ unique corporate culture in to all our operations.”
Nelson has served as Human Resources Site Leader of Apple Computer in Austin, Texas; as Human Resources Director, Western Region of ARAMARK Corporation in Pleasanton, California; and as Director of Leadership Development, Compensation Consultant and Human Resource Manager for Honeywell Corporation (formerly AlliedSignal) in Phoenix and Tempe, Arizona. He is a graduate of Iowa State University (B.S. Industrial Relations) and the University of Minnesota (M.A., Industrial Relations).
He begins his new position at EMMIS’ Indianapolis headquarters on Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.
