EMMIS NAMES CHERYL ACKERMAN VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE & ASSISTANT TREASURER

Indianapolis – Emmis Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: EMMS) today announced the promotion of Cheryl Ackerman to Vice President of Finance and Assistant Treasurer.

“Cheryl has demonstrated an on-going commitment to Emmis,” Walter Z. Berger, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, said. “Her dedication, performance and integrity have made her an invaluable member of the Emmis Management Team.”

Ackerman, 35, who graduated with a degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany, worked in public accounting for eight years prior to joining Emmis in April of 1998.

Most recently Ackerman has been serving as Assistant Treasurer for the company, with responsibility for management and compliance of the company’s debt, assisting with the company’s capital transactions, overseeing external financial reporting and the company’s profit improvement initiatives, as well as other financial special projects.
