EMMIS NAMES BLANGIARDI SENIOR VP-GM OF EMMIS HAWAII

Indianapolis – Rick Blangiardi, President of the Telemundo Group, has been named Hawaii Market Senior Vice President/General Manager for Emmis Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: EMMS). Emmis owns two Honolulu stations, KGMB (CBS 9) and KHON (Fox 2).

The newly created position will be a homecoming of sorts for Blangiardi, who served as vice president and general manager of KHNL-TV in Honolulu from 1984 to 1989 and in a variety of capacities at KGMB-TV (1977-84). He also earned his masters in education administration (1973) from the University of Hawaii, where he served as an assistant football coach and color play-by-play announcer.

“Rick’s experience in television coupled with his knowledge of the Honolulu market make him the perfect fit,” Randall Bongarten, President of Emmis Television, said.

Since 1999, Blangiardi has served as President of the Telemundo Group, which owns 11 television stations. He has worked as Managing Director of Brad Marks International, an executive search firm (1999), CEO of the Premier Horse Network (1997-99), Group President of River City Broadcasting (1994-96), Vice President-General Manager of KPIX-TV in San Francisco (1993-94), Vice President of new Business Development for CBS Television (1992-93), and Vice President-General Manager of KING-TV in Seattle (1989-92).
