Emmis Named One of Indiana’s “Best Places to Work”

Indianapolis…Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS) has been honored as one of Indiana’s “Best Places to Work,” according to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

Emmis ranks No. 4 in the “large company” category.

“One of the things I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve created at Emmis and the tremendous spirit of our employees,” said Jeff Smulyan, Emmis Chairman and CEO. “This honor is a testament to the people-focused values our Indianapolis and Terre Haute staffs support every day.”

“Best Places to Work” honorees were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys, with winners selected in two categories: small to medium-sized companies of between 25 and 199 employees, and large-sized companies consisting of 250 or more employees.

In addition, The Indiana Youth Institute (IYI), in partnership with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, selected Emmis as one of the recipients of its 2007 Family Friendly Workplace Award. This honor is given to companies named as one of the “Best Places to Work in Indiana” in recognition of the company’s efforts to establish family-friendly policies and practices. IYI, which promotes the healthy development of children and youth by serving the institutions and people of Indiana who work on their behalf, will be making a $5,000 donation in Emmis’ name to the Salvation Army’s Summer of Wonder program.

The Summer of Wonder program offers cultural, educational, recreational and community service opportunities to the children of homeless women living in the Salvation Army Social Service Center. Approximately 45 children will take part in the program, which teaches coping skills, conflict resolution and how to develop age-appropriate relationships with peers and adults. Along the way, they get to visit places like the zoo, parks and museums.

In Indiana, Emmis owns Indianapolis Monthly, WIBC-AM, WNOU-FM, WYXB-FM, WLHK-FM and Network Indiana (all in Indianapolis), as well as WTHI-FM, WWVR-FM (both in Terre Haute).
