Emmis Announces Additional HD2 Formats for Phoenix and St. Louis Radio Markets

Indianapolis… Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS) unveiled its next wave of High Definition Digital second channels in its Phoenix and St. Louis markets. Emmis will roll out these multicast channels in the coming months.

In Phoenix (market rank No. 15), KKFR-FM will broadcast “Power Dos,” produced by sister station KPWR-FM (Power 106) in Los Angeles. Power Dos is a bilingual and musically extended version of Power 106 and should launch in Phoenix in August.

In St. Louis (market rank No. 20), KFTK-FM will air Fox News, KIHT-FM will broadcast “Classic Hit Spice,” KPNT-FM will air Current Alternative, and KSHE-FM HD listeners will enjoy “Country Variety.” All HD channels for Emmis’ St. Louis stations will be up by September.

In January 2006, Emmis announced formats for its secondary HD channels in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Indianapolis.

The HD Digital Radio Alliance, of which Emmis is a member, is a strategic alliance designed to accelerate the rollout of HD Digital Radio. HD Digital Radio eliminates the static, hiss and fades associated with analog signals. The wireless data feature enables text information on songs to be broadcast directly to receiver display screens. HD Digital Radio will initially be commercial-free, and no subscription is required. HD Digital Radio receivers are available now at various in-store and online retailers.
