Newsradio 590 KLBJ serves Central Texas providing live, local news updates on the hour and half hour seven days a week. It is the only 24 hour broadcast news operation in Austin. KLBJ also keeps Austinites on schedule with traffic updates and weather reports from a team of meteorologists who watch the volatile Texas weather 24 hours a day.
Newsradio KLBJ is unique among all Austin radio stations as it presents Austin’s only lineup of live, local talk personalities who are always presenting compelling conversations about the day’s most important news. Todd and Don inform and entertain Austinites every weekday morning while Mark and Charlie and Dale Dudley continue the local focus during the middle of the day. Jeff Ward and Ed Clements then continue the fun and informative commentary during the weekday drive home. The live, local talk continues every weekend as a broad range of experts on money, gardening and health interact with Austin listeners.
Public service has been a hallmark of Newsradio KLBJ during its many decades of service Austin. When citizens need help, the station rallies its listeners to provide time and resources to help those in need. That tradition of public service was recognized in 1994 when the prestigious Crystal Award from the National Association of Broadcasters was awarded to Newsradio KLBJ for its public service.
KLBJ’s full-range of public service, from news/traffic/weather/talk to charity fund raising, was recognized by the National Association of Broadcasters as the station received the award for News Talk Station of the Year in America for 2004.
