At the end of 1990, 93.3 KGSR launched an eclectic adult-targeted music mix. At that point the Album Adult Alternative format had not been given its name, but as the trade magazines caught on KGSR was regarded as one of the first stations under the then-new AAA banner. 25+ years later, KGSR stays true to its roots, with core artists including Bob Marley, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Vance Joy, Death Cab for Cutie as well as Texans like Bob Schneider, Hayes Carll and Spoon.
Characterized by its strong commitment to the local community and its long standing events like Blues on the Green and its SXSW Live Broadcast. KGSR has won countless awards from its peers, including being named one of “10 Stations That Don’t Suck” by Rolling Stone magazine. KGSR is a singular signal in a unique city.
