New York…Emmis Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: EMMS) today named radio industry veteran Matt Ross as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Emmis-New York.
Barry Mayo, Senior Vice President and Market Manager of Emmis New York, said the addition of Ross will complete the restructuring of the sales and marketing functions at the three Emmis stations. “Matt has a successful track record in sales, team building and talent acquisition. The fact that he has that track record in the New York City marketplace is a huge plus.”
Since early 2002, Ross has served as CEO of Turning-Point Inc., which specializes in media, marketing and event consulting services. Prior to that, he was General Manager of WAXQ-FM in New York City (1998-2001) and added the additional role of Senior Vice President of Sales for Clear Channel New York (2001), leading the sales operation for Clear Channel’s six New York stations. During his tenure, WAXQ-FM experienced the greatest revenue and ratings increase of any station in the Clear Channel portfolio. Previous positions include General Manager of AURA in Atlanta (1996-98), General Sales Manager with Broadcasting Partners Incorporated (1991-95), National Sales Manager for WLTW-FM (1988-91) and Account Executive for WCBS-AM in New York City (1985-88).
Ross, who begins his new position immediately, received his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY-Albany and his Masters of Business Administration from New York University.
Emmis-New York includes WQHT-FM (Hot97), WQCD-FM (CD101.9) and WRKS-FM (KISS FM).
