Indianapolis…Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS) today announced that it has named Mickey Levitan as Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
“Mickey’s responsibility will be to oversee and support our most valuable resource – our people,” Emmis Chairman and CEO Jeff Smulyan said. “While Mickey understands and appreciates our unique culture, he brings a wealth of outside experience that will help us continue Emmis’ growth as a truly world-class organization.”
Levitan, 44, has been serving as a human resources consultant for Emmis since 2000. He is the founder and CEO of an Indianapolis-based educational technology company. Levitan’s previous experience includes serving as Director of Human Resources for Apple Computer (1998-2000), Executive Director of Organizational Effectiveness & Assistant to the President of Cummins Engine (1996-98), and as a White House Fellow (1994-95). While at Cummins, Levitan led human resources for its largest business unit. Levitan, who served in the Peace Corps for three years (1980-83) and as Country Director for Save the Children (Thailand, 1988-94), is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Stanford Food Research Institute.
