In addition to providing in-kind donations, Emmis entities assist their communities by donating money and resources to important projects.
Once each year for the past seven years, Indianapolis' WENS has drawn its listening community together for a common cause- improving the lives of sick children. In its short time, the Radiothon for Riley Hospital for Children has established a winning track record by growing more successful each year. And 2001 was no exception: the station's morning team spent 97 consecutive hours on the air to raise money for the hospital, while listeners and station staffers manned the phones to take pledge calls. Meanwhile, children who were or had been patients at Riley stopped by with their parents to tell their stories. At the end of the marathon broadcast, WENS had raised more than $675,000 for the nationally recognized children†s hospital. |
