Emmis Communications takes its corporate citizenship seriously. As a fast-growing international media company, it knows it must use its resources to address pressing problems. And as a collection of local broadcasters and publishers, it believes it should use its stations and publications to improve individual communities.

The company backs these beliefs with deeds: Emmis has pumped millions in cash, in-kind contributions and fund-raising into its communities. And those dollars met a range of needs, from putting new coats on children to providing not-for-profit agencies with services they could not otherwise afford.

Key to the Emmis approach is the belief that each of its publications and broadcasters should have the freedom to decide how to use its charitable resources. The stations and publications use this freedom to donate millions of dollars in airtime and page space to not-for-profit organizations, to sponsor fund-raising events and to give money to worthy causes. In short, they make a difference in their communities.

While Emmis is proud to point to its charitable bottom line, the company knows that giving is not measured only in dollars and cents - it's also measured in results. And Emmis is proud to note what its giving has done.

For example, organizations supported by Emmis provided summer camp experiences to special-needs children in Georgia, upgraded computer labs at Boys and Girls Clubs in the Northeast, and prepared California youth for the job market. And that only scratches the surface.

Emmis entities don't pretend to answer every need in their communities, but they do put millions of dollars to work for the groups that are out there trying to make a difference. On the following pages are a few examples of how the company helps.
