How Emmis Helps:

All not-for-profit organizations share a common dilemma: they must advertise in order to spread their messages, but they find it difficult to buy ads with dollars that could go to constituent services.

This is where Emmis can help. Each year, the company provides millions of dollars in advertising time and space to not-for-profit agencies. For example, Texas Monthly has included in its pages more than 800,000 worth of advertising for not-for-profits, and Indianapolis' WIBC-FM has aired approximately 6,300 live and recorded public service announcements, adding up to 945,000 in promotional opportunities to such organizations as churches, homeless shelters and health related causes.

But Emmis efforts go well beyond free ads. Our AM talk shows support the station's public service announcements by featuring not-for-profit organizations in on-air interview segments and community forums. And Chicago's WKQX-FM launched Alternative Means, a program that through monetary donations, Web site coverage and focused airtime, supported five Chicago-area organizations with giving valued at 1.5 million.

This kind of giving has a double impact: it provides not-for-profits with needed exposure while preserving the agencies' service dollars.
